Australian Motorcycle sales remain steady

A recent article on bike shows positive sales in the Australian Motorcycle market.  Here are some stats and interesting figures from the article, which we at Motosport found positive and encouraging for buyers and sellers.

mt-07 Australians purchased 79,548 new motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles and scooters between January and September 2014, only slightly less (0.08%) than in the same period in 2013

The road segment accounted for 40.8% of sales just ahead of off-road 32.5%, ATV 19.6% and Scooters 7.1%

More pleasing news to us was that Honda continues to be the No.1 brand across the board with an impressive 21.7% total market share.   Yamaha had 17.5%, Kawasaki at 9.9%, Suzuki 8.7%, Harley Davidson 7.5%, KTM 6.9%, Polaris 4.9%, BMW Motorrad 2.8% closely followed by Triumph at 2.6%.

ninja300Interestingly enough the Kawasaki Ninja 300 (pictured) and Honda CBR500R remains as Australia’s two most popular bikes, while the Yamaha MT-07L (pictured) has made a strong impact in only a short period of time.
